I really love Violent Lips tattoos for something a little bit different that just using lipstick. I have tried quite a few out and would say it takes a lot of practice to get it right. If you haven't tried them before they are temporary lip tattoos (just like those transfers you had as a kid) that you cut to the shape of you lips (they have outlines on the back) then apply with a wet cotton ball. I was told the wetter the cotton ball the better for getting the tattoo to apply. They recommend doing the top lip first but I found the bottom lip much, much easier to apply and if it's your first time I would start there. There is a guide on the back of where to cut the lips to size after you have measured them against your own lips by making an 'AHHH' shape with your mouth. I have found it best to cut them a little smaller than you think you might need as it tends to be the excess that screws the whole process up. With the top lip it recommends you don't cut from the top but I do have to carefully trim it down to fit the curve of my lip. Peel the top layer of film off and apply the sticky side to your lips making the 'AHHH' shape again. Using a very wet cotton ball, blot it on to the tattoo until the backing paper starts to come away. Hopefully your lip tattoo should be applied perfectly (sometime I have to press it down slightly). They come off with anything oiled based so don't apply any lip gloss on top. I have screwed up the top lip a few times royally and you only get three in a packet so the pressure is on to make sure you don't f**k it up!! My sister bought and tried out the glitteratti red ones and they didn't last 30 minutes and didn't seem very sticky at all. The ones I have used I found they lasted at least 8 hours which is pretty good going! They aren't cheap either ( about a tenner) so they are something you really have to try yourself. I would recommend a good pair of scissors and watching a few tutorials on youtube first!
Oooh I love the post! My friend got me a few transfers for my birthday in December but I still havent used them (my bad!). Im just scared incase I make an arse of it haha.
ReplyDeleteYours look great! How long did it take you to get the hang of it? And this may sound silly but does it feel restrictive on your lips? Like, hard to stretch them out? xxxxx

Good question! I totally forgot to say your lips do feel kinda tight for the first 30 mins but then it relaxes a wee bit and you get used to it. x

Oh I tried the glitteratti ones too, and they didn't work for me either. I just can't get the hang of the application. They went all wrinkly on me. You did a great job of applying the two in the photos, I must say. Especially the red and white polka dots. They look great on you! I feel as though I might be cutting my remaining pair up into little shapes and applying them elsewhere on my face like a normal temp tattoo. Le sigh.
